Sekar Rajagopal

Between the observed and the felt.

Since childhood, painting has been a central part of my life. Born in Sri Lanka and now based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, I bring years of artistic experience to a practice shaped by my fascination with animals, expression and atmosphere.

My contemporary oil paintings explore the expressive beauty of animals, the human figure, and the natural world. Through simplified forms, harmonious colors, and carefully considered compositions, I seek to capture moments of quiet emotion, strength, and contemplation. Rather than focusing on intricate detail, I aim to create paintings that evoke atmosphere, invite personal interpretation, and establish a lasting emotional connection with the viewer.

I work with simplified forms, deliberate composition and a restrained palette. Rather than describing every detail, I aim to leave space for the viewer to enter the image and discover its emotional atmosphere.

My original works are held in private collections in Germany and internationally, including the United States.
